Caught At Paw Fest

This past weekend, I went to the Animal Shelter's Paw Festival and Chili Cook-Off. And there was a little I'd like to share about the event.

First, the fact that they had a chili cook-off at an animal shelter was a little unsavory. Urban legends of seedy restaurants chopping up alley cats for their mystery meat stews flashed through my head more than once. Perhaps a pie-tasting contest would have been a more appetizing choice.

Second, I do have to say that I liked seeing the animals. I didn't take any dogs for a walk or remove any cats from their cages, but it did renew my longing for the time when I can once again have a dog of my own-preferrably a black lab or german shepherd.

Lastly, thanks to the Press-Citizen reporter who decided to cover the event and my uncanny knack for unwittingly being at the right place at the right time, my mug made it in to the newspapers picture. The pic below is from the paper's online article about the event. You have to look closely, but that Mexican in the background just over the pig-like dog's head is yours truly.

It's a dog-eat-dog world and I'm wearing milkbone undies.
