Date Day

Tee and I went on our first Date Day last Tuesday. We decided to make at least one day a month for us to spend a day without the baby. So I called up my mom who said she would be happy to watch Camden and we took off.

Although, we had thought of several possible activities like a helicopter ride or horseback riding, we hadn't made any reservations for these things when the big day came around. So there we were with a whole day to ourselves and we were literally trying to come up with something to do as we were driving off. The thought to rent a hotel room and take a long nap crossed our mind, but we figured to just have a good time like when we first met.

Our first stop was for lunch. We decided to try a barbecue place we'd heard a lot about called Texas Pride. It was 45 minute drive to the small town where the place was located. The parking lot was gravel and the outside of the building was surrounded with antique farm equipment and a huge, dare I say, Texas-sized barbecue pit.

When you enter, there's a short corridor to walk through before you come to the place where you order. We ordered half a pound of brisket and two sausage links with a side of macaroni salad and cheesy potatoes. They had tubs with iced-down beer but none of the one's I found were very cold and there didn't seem to be any fountain drink options. So Tee had lemonade (which she said tasted like Country Time) and I had sweet tea that wasn't sweet at all.

Although the barbecue was delicious the trays, tables, and counters were greasy. There was also a lot of flies in the dinning area. Nonetheless, we were still glad we went after hearing so much about the place. After lunch, we made the decision to go bowling at Ponderosa Bowling Alley.

Being the middle of the week, we had the bowling alley pretty much all to ourselves. This was just the way we liked it. Unfortunately, as a result of the lanes being empty, I was the only who got to witness Tee slipping and falling down. She didn't hurt herself and was laughing after doing her impression of Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the football away. After a few games and a high score of 185 (by yours truly) we moved on with our day.

Next on our list was a trip to Planet Bike. We wanted to get Tee a bike so we could hopefully start going on more city sponsored bike rides around town. She got a sweet black and pink number and we also bought a carrier for the car. By the time we got home we were so relaxed and happy to see Camden. He was awake and ready to spend the evening with mom and dad.
